Luxurious central-London hotel One Aldwych have launched a new room service offering, Tray of Treats. Planning an indulgent night in your hotel suite, ordering Room Service and watching a great movie classic? Or Ravenous after a work-out in the hotel gym and pool? A solo traveller working late and needing an energy boost? Hungry children to feed in a hurry before heading to a West End show? These are the four scenarios that Dominic Teague, Executive Chef, considered while designing One Aldwych hotel’s new Tray of Treats Room Service meals.
Each all-in-one Tray of Treats includes a starter, main course & side dish, dessert and drink for just one price. Not merely practical, the meal trays are also a great way for guests to sample Chef Dominic’s award-winning fresh, seasonal dishes in the privacy of their hotel room. “Tray of Treats addresses the needs of today’s modern traveller,” Chef Dominic says. “I’ve planned the four menus in advance, so guests gain the time to get on with their work and play.”
We visited One Aldwych recently to try out the new Tray of Treats offering, and were impressed by the speed and quality of the service. The Movie Tray (£30pp) includes a sizable hot dog with brioche bun, mustard mayonnaise, and caramelised onion, Nachos with chilli and guacamole (one of the best portions of Nachos we have ever tasted), and a Chocolate financier for dessert. Naturally a Movie Tray would not be complete without a side of sweet and salty popcorn. You are also able to choose between a soft drink, beer, or glass of house wine.
If you’re more of a healthy diner, the dairy and gluten-free Healthy Tray (£29pp) includes a delicious Grilled halibut with Quinoa salad, Heritage tomatoes and olive oil, slices seasonal fruit, and a juice or fruit smoothie. Each tray arrives on a room-service trolley complete with white table cloth and silver-service, with the trolley having a fold out table so you’re able to sit on the end of the bed and watch a movie or catch up on some work while dining.
It certainly made for a relaxing evening being able to watch a movie and dine-in after a tiring week, without having to leave the hotel to go to the cinema or a restaurant. The Tray of Treats service is available to order from One Aldwych Room Service for guests staying in-house, 12noon to 22h00.
The hotel, as always, provided a blissful stay, with excellent service and their perfect marshmallow beds. The bar is a lovely place for an evening drink with a unique selection of cocktails, and the breakfast is always a delightful one. The location is unbeatable; opposite the Lyceum Theatre and Waterloo Bridge, and just a short walk from Covent Garden and Soho. And who can forget that beautiful tranquil swimming pool?
One Aldwych are also embarking on an extensive hotel refurbishment in October 2018, with British designer Robert Angell (The Connaught, The Berkeley, Lime Wood Hotel) appointed to redesign guest rooms and suites, evoking the style of an elegant modern residence. The hotel will close for a short period, before re-opening and refurbishing floor-by-floor.
