Fall in Love With London at Shangri-La At The Shard

Shangri-La At The Shard is the jewel of the Shangri-La group. Having opened in 2014 and rising 34-52 stories above London, the views from every room are simply breathtaking, and the combination of London’s skyline and the luxury of Shangri-La makes for a very special stay.

I recently stayed at Shangri-La At The Shard to test out their Summer in the City promotion, and was so impressed I wanted share my experience. The hotel is one of the top hotels in London, and feels very Shangri-La, with their signature scent filling the public areas, and the contemporary design featuring Asian inspired artwork and detailing.

 

Dining at Shangri-La At The Shard

With a fine dining restaurant, popular bar featuring a Movie themed cocktail menu, and a deli for more casual food options, Shangri-La have the foodie side of thing covered. However you do also have the restaurants on the lower floors, as well as Borough Market right next door.

The fine dining restaurant, TĪNG, was a fabulous place for dinner, with good quality food and an excellent wine list. The service was outstanding, and we were even given a 10 minute warning for sunset so we could walk over to the other side of the hotel to watch it dip below the London skyline.

Providing a thoroughly British experience, the Summer in the City package includes afternoon tea for two served in your room, so you can have a romantic afternoon nibbling on scones and watching the world go by below you.

Shangri-La London’s Rooms & Suites

When it comes to the rooms at Shangri-La, I had a good nosey in a few of the different types of rooms and suites, and there’s no denying that The London Suite was my favourite. With the most beautiful bedlinens and an exceptionally photogenic bath with views across the City, the suite is large and spacious and has everything you could possibly want.

If a suite is a little out of your price-range but you still want a bath with a view, make sure you book into the Iconic City View Room.

All rooms come complete with binoculars for a closer look at the city, and modern features such as a heated toilet seat and heated floors.

The hotel is in a brilliant location due to the close proximity to Borough Market and the Jubilee line (providing fast and direct links into the City, Canary Wharf, Mayfair, and Westminster), and you couldn’t really ask for a better base from which to explore London.

One of the most special features of the hotel though, is in fact the swimming pool. Next door to GŌNG bar, it has to be one of the most spectacular infinity pools in the world with jaw-dropping views just like everywhere else in The Shard.
