“There are two artists behind every article of bespoke clothing conceived on Savile Row: the cutter and the customer”Richard Anderson, Making the Cut

Amongst the melancholy mood of an uncertain political landscape, a worrying demise for the high street and an ever-increasing acknowledgement of fashion houses needing to be more sustainable in their thinking, some good news surfaces. Savile Row Tailor, Richard Anderson Ltd, has announced the expansion of its premises to the ground floor of 13 Savile Row.

Cue orchestral fanfare…

London’s Savile Row, the home of menswear, is where the world’s finest suits hail. With tailoring powerhouses flanking the ‘Golden Mile’, the sartorial street lays claim to having dressed the world’s most celebrated entertainers, athletes, businessmen, politicians and royalty. None more so than Richard Anderson, one of the ‘Rows’ most famous faces.

Opened in 2001 as the first new bespoke tailors on The Row for 50 years, Richard Anderson Ltd has announced the expansion of a new workshop and increased tailoring presence on London’s Savile Row. Doubling its footprint within the brand’s already well-trodden tailoring grounds.

The newly acquired space will see the business close its current workshop in London’s Soho area and relocate all tailors to the ground floor of 13 Savile Row.

Remarking on the expansion, co-founder Richard Anderson notes, “we are extremely proud of our British roots and the quality of the products we offer. It was our dream to give life back to The Row, to immerse ourselves with the most traditional tailors and offer a point of difference. Although we are based on Savile Row, our name and tailoring have a global reach. The expansion is a natural progression for the brand ensuring we stay true to our DNA, the quality of the cut and make of our product.”

With over 100 years of Savile Row experience combined, Richard Anderson and co-founder Brian Lishak represent the perfect amalgamation of tradition and innovative creativity.

“Our vision was always to draw on the tradition and craftsmanship of Savile Row, to create suits of life-long quality for modern men and women. The expansion of our premises does mean an increase in costs; however, we continue to grow as a business both locally and internationally. We have significantly invested in our products including our ready-to-wear range. It’s a stepping-stone into bespoke for new Clients and we are seeing a tremendous return on our investment. The expansion is a pivotal moment for the company and we’re excited for what the future holds”, explains Brian Lishak.

The new workshop and increased tailoring presence on Savile Row will enable the brand to expand both its bespoke and ready-to-wear services, while staying true to its original business model.

The relationship between cutter and the customer really now does start from the foundations of the brand.
