This Christmas season, the eccentric Mr Foggs in Mayfair is offering an afternoon tea with a twist. Forget the herbal teas and scones, Mr Foggs’ ‘Tipsy Tea’ provides you with a teapot filled with your choice of gin or champagne tea, as well as fig and walnut sandwiches and enough sweet treats to satisfy even the Duchess of Bedford herself.
Here you will sit back and relax, and while away an afternoon listening to a live jazz pianist playing and the fire crackling next to you, while ‘artifacts’ from Phileas Fogg’s home and expedition surround you.
Mr Foggs’ fun festive offering includes three new tea selections, including The Robin Red Breast, which contains Red Fruit Tea infused Tanqueray No.TEN gin, steeped in a teapot with plum liquor, pomegranate juice, cinnamon, cloves and Christmas syrup.
The other selections are the 1840 and the Catherine of Braganza, which sounds like the ideal festive treat – Green Tea infused Tanqueray No.TEN gin,steeped in a teapot with Cointreau, crème de apricot and orange marmalade.
Tipsy Tea with single teapot of either Gin Tea or Champagne Tea is a very reasonable £35pp, while the more cost-effective versions are the Tipsy Tea with a bottomless teapot of Gin Tea for £55pp, and Tipsy Tea with a bottomless teapot of Champagne Tea for £65pp.
