London’s Nine Elms restaurant choices received another uplift recently as Chokhi Dhani have launched a multi-sensory Indian offering South of the River.
Located on the River Thames in Battersea’s newly developed Riverlight Quay, Chokhi Dhani has recently opened its Indian inspired doors to London’s flourishing fine dining scene.
The name Chokhi Dhani has been synonymous with championing local Indian culture and hospitality for the past three decades. Starting out with its 5* Chokhi Dhani Resort & Hotel in Jaipur, the hospitality chain has gone on to provide guests with a unique experience of Rajasthani culture, the like of which has been evident in India for over thirty years. Fortunately for Londoners, it has now brought this unique experience to the UK’s capital city with its newest restaurant.
Showcasing the fine food, vibrant atmosphere and exceptional service, tantamount to what one would expect to see in Rajasthan, Chokhi Dhani does all this in its London offering albeit with a contemporary twist.
The Indian restaurant brand provides an all-encompassing experience. Split over two floors, the restaurant hosts a street food concept on the ground floor whilst a more regal ambience, focussing on aristocratic luxury at its most seductive, can be found upstairs.
Standout dishes come in the form of Kadak Momo Basket (crispy homemade dumplings in a matchstick potato basket served with an array of chutneys); Chettinad Chicken Lollipops and Game Pie Kebab.
Responsible for this immersive and multi-sensory dining experience is the brilliant Vishnu Natarajan. Natarajan, who previously held a residency at Soho’s ‘Carom’, oversees the menu alongside Bhagwan Singh from ‘Cinnamon Culture, Mint Leaf’. In addition, a globally renowned expert on Rajasthani cuisine, senior sous chef Mohammed Naseem Qureshi from ‘Bombay Bustle, Lotus’ and pastry chef Rakesh Sharma ‘Chutney Mary, Mint Leaf’ also add to the collective culinary genius of Chokhi Dhani’s expert team.
For those not content with just titivating their taste buds for an evening, Chokhi Dhani’s enjoyment is not just limited to the menu. The restaurant also celebrates local culture through its stunning interiors. Spearheaded by a collection of bespoke artworks handmade by some of India’s most respected artisans, the interior of the restaurant ensures diners are fully immersed in the Rajasthani culture.
Other standout dishes from the restaurant’s menu include Achaari Paneer Tikka, Sea Trout Tikka & Roe, Tandoori Orange Duck and Ostrich Puffs. Natarajan’s menu not only highlights dishes from Rajasthan’s ancient princely state, with its widely revered royal cuisine, but other culinary jewels from across India.
Located close to Battersea Power Station and the recently completed US Embassy building, Chokhi Dhani is open seven days a week from 12pm-11pm Monday-Saturday and 12pm-10.30pm on Sunday.
Just keep an eye out for the awe-inspiring life-size bronze elephant sculpture that stands proudly at the entrance; you’re sure not to be disappointed.
