The quintessentially British menswear brand Chester Barrie re-launched their Savile Row store in London’s Mayfair area last week along with their latest Autumn Winter 2018 collection.
Savile Row, a street in Central London that contains some of the world’s greatest tailoring houses is home to Chester Barrie’s flagship store. Located at 19 Savile Row the newly refurbished Chester Barrie residence has taken inspiration from its 1930s roots with the refurbished store’s personality mirroring the brand’s DNA.
Founded in London in 1935 by Simon Ackerman, an Englishman who had emigrated to the States but returned to create an English look for the American market, Ackerman built a brand that was and still is highly regarded amongst the world’s tailoring elite.
The re-launched store boasts weathered brass fixtures and fittings throughout, exposed polished floorboards and freestanding display stands with pewter frames and either solid oak or marble bases replacing the previously overbearing and somewhat rigid fixed units.
The overall look and feel now offers a softer and more sophisticated finish to the brand’s flagship store.
Constrained by its narrow floor plate, the retail space has benefitted from the addition of a fresh awning to the front and darker blue walls and carpeting to the rear of the building. The latest additions have had the positive effect of drawing the customer’s eye through the buildings luxury selling space giving the customer and passers-by new depth to the Chester Barrie retail offering.
Under the direction of Creative Director Simon Kirby, velvet chairs, an extra changing room and an area dedicated to occasionwear make up the changes that amplifies the look and feel of the luxurious environment.
The re-launch event saw the brand, known for its regular features on red carpets around the world, play host to fashion’s most notable sartorialist VIPs. Male models Jack Guinness, Richard Biedul, Craig McGinlay, Toby Huntington- Whiteley, Jacey Elthanlion all wearing Chester Barrie at the launch event.
With an order book containing some of the history’s most notable characters such as Sir Winston Churchill, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra, Chester Barrie’s 80 years of Savile Row tailoring history continues to attract those who are fans of the brand’s classic tailoring, beautiful fabrics and fine attention to detail.
The refurbished Chester Barrie store is now open and is the perfect location to peruse and escape amongst Chester Barrie’s latest Gold Label collection or its new Made-in-England capsule collection.
