Chelsea will be in full blossom this May, as retailers across the Cadogan Estate start sewing the seeds forthe annual floral art show Chelsea in Bloom, which will be held from 18th to 23rd May 2015.
Always an impressive sight for passing shoppers and locals, to mark 10 years this year’s theme is ‘Fairy Tales’. Some of the 39 retailers who will be putting their green-fingers to the test includes Jo Malone, Smythson, Fendi, LK Bennett, Lulu Guinness, Club Monaco, Mary Quant, Monica Vinader, The White Company, and last year’s winner Kate Spade.
The retailers are set to transform their shop fronts into horticultural havens to ensure that Sloane Square, Sloane Street and Duke of York Square are bursting with fairy tale magic and glorious colour.
This year’s enchanting Fairy Tales theme will also be reflected in a showstopping ‘Fairy Tale forest’ installation on Sloane Square complete with an Information Point, and a pop-up champagne bar from The Botanist. Nearby Duke of York Square will host a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ serving Pimms and other refreshments from a giant teapot.
This year’s judging panel will see the return of influential lifestyle blogger Liberty London Girl, as well as Official RHS Chelsea Flower Show Judges Stephen Woodhams and Hayley Skipper who will judge participants on their creative interpretation of the ‘Fairy Tales’ theme, as well as their style, flair and use of fresh flowers. Visitors can have their say too, and will be able to vote for their favourite floral display in the ‘People’s Choice’ Award by visiting the Chelsea in Bloom website.
The Fairy Tale Forest and Information Point will be open each day (from Monday 18th – Saturday 23rd May) from 10am- 7pm and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Duke of York Square daily from noon until 8pm. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy an enchanting evening of retail therapy on Thursday 21st May when shops will stay open between 6-8pm.
