It is often the simplest things that have the greatest impact on our lives. It is also only after these simple things have been thought of that you wonder why no one has ever done them before. Much like the ethos of Steph Korey and Jen Rubio, co-founders of Away.
Away, for those not familiar, is a global travel and lifestyle brand based in New York. Founded in 2015 out of frustration in the lack of thoughtfully-designed and affordable luggage in the marketplace, Away has now sold over a million suitcases and has plans to open over 50 stores. In short, their simple adoption of thoughtfully-designed and affordable luggage is paying dividends.
Away started with a collection of travel stories from diverse and interesting people. The book is called ‘The Places We Return To’. The brand sold this book with a gift card that could later be redeemed for their very first product, The Carry-On.
Starting as a digital brand, their direct-to-consumer business model has seen them build a following that brings their luggage to life. Illustrating their collections through the art of travel and story telling they have been able to showcase their products through their community, partners and digital influencers. The latter which has seen them collaborate with American model Karlie Kloss and fashion house Margherita Missoni.
As for Away’s latest collection, this February has seen the release of its Limited Edition Chalet Collection.
