Bremont Launches Watch in Homage to English Rugby

“Rugby is great. The players don’t wear helmets or padding; they just beat the living daylights out of each other and then go for a beer. I love that.” – Joe Theismann, American football player

To celebrate Bremont becoming the Official Timing Partner to both England Rugby and Twickenham Stadium, the award-winning British luxury watch brand is launching the Bremont ‘Rose’ watch.

Based on Bremont’s iconic, but not so jazzy-named ALT1-C collection, the ‘Rose’ watch sees the brushed steel chronograph feature two sub-dials subtly embossed with the symbolic England Rose and the word ‘England’ detailed under the date at the 6 o’clock position. Thus replacing Bremont’s traditional use of the word ‘London’ that is commonly seen throughout Bremont’s wider collection of notable watches.

With parts proudly manufactured and assembled into timepieces in Henley-on-Thames, UK the ‘Rose’ continues to embody the rugby spirit throughout the inner workings of the wristwatch. On the underside of the watch can be found another engraving of the English rose on the custom rotor along with the rousing words from England’s Twickenham rugby anthem, ‘swing low’ that is regularly heard cascading from the upper tiers of the famous sporting stadium during match days.

In a final nod towards English patriotism and to avoid all ambiguity as to which country you are to support should you find yourself lucky enough to be in possession of one of these mechanical chronometers, the blued steel hands and red chrono second hand give reference to the St George’s Cross, the flag of England.

Patriotic sentiment fully accounted for, what really makes the Bremont ‘Rose’ tick?

Water resistant to 100m and with a 42 hour power reserve, the Bremont ‘Rose’ is housed in a hardened stainless steel Bremont Trip-Tick®construction with scratch resistant DLC treated case barrel. It has a small seconds counter at 9H, the date at 6H and a 30 seconds counter at 3H. Measuring 43mm in diameter and 16mm thick, the scratch resistant sapphire glass culminates in an elegant timepiece and durable piece of British engineering.

As for Bremont’s affiliation with the home of England Rugby, Twickenham Stadium is the largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world and can seat up to 82,000 people. The five-year partnership builds on the watchmakers original principles of aviation and military and aims to celebrate the shared values of durability, precision and technical ability. Something that England Rugby and Twickenham have long been known to combine and cultivate over the years and convert into colossal performances on the pitch.

Throughout the new partnership, Bremont will be delivering all of Twickenham stadium’s official time-related match day content, including branded match clocks around the stadium. In addition, Bremont will produce a series of special edition mechanical chronometers for both fans and players, the first of which will be launched in time for the Guinness Six Nations 2020 starting in February.

Lets hope as the Bremont clocks count down to the next chapter in England and Twickenham’s rugby future, the boys in white can rouse the red rose into victory. Failing that at least we’ll know what time to leave so we can catch our last train home.
