Cherry Blossom isn’t just for those in Japan, we’re also lucky enough to get Cherry Blossom right here in London. But if you’re more of a foodie than a botanist we have the perfect list of the bars and restaurants giving you a taste of Sakura in London without having to face hayfever season outside.
Yamagoya
Yamagoya took Instagram by storm with its raindrop cake, a Japanese delicacy made of water and agar that melts and evaporates after 20 minutes. They have now created an even more instagrammable cherry-blossom version for the season of sakura, which is served with molasses syrup and roasted soybean flour to add flavour before it melts in your mouth.
Sake No Hana
Sake No Hana in Mayfair are one of the original London restaurants offering customers a Sakura experience. There’s a special seasonal menu and artist Lydia Kasumi Shirreff has created an art installation themed around “hana fubuki” (Cherry Blossom Blizzard). Sip a seasonal cocktail by Perrier-Jouët Champagne and take in the work of art whilst tucking into the salmon with Champagne yuzu miso sauce.
Shochu Lounge at Roka
Roka’s Shochu Lounge are another restaurant that have a canopy of Cherry Blossom for you to sit under, and a fabulous seasonal cocktail list for you to sip your way through. There’s also a sashimi platter for you to share with friends (or eat it all yourself), and the cocktails include the Cherry & Tonka Manhattan, and a Sakura Sour.
Sexy Fish
Cherry blossom season is one of the highlights of the Japanese spring, drawing tourists in their hundreds of thousands, year after year. In honour of this special time in the Japanese calendar, Sexy Fish is paying homage with a stunning neon blossom installation, a selection of Sakura cocktails and the pièce de résistance, an edible cherry blossom tree cake, created by Sebastian Wild Cakes.
Zuma
Enjoy a range of seasonal cocktails beneath a canopy of cherry blossom at Zuma in Knightsbridge. Bar manager Pawel Rolka has created the menu in partnership with Ciroc. The cocktail menu includes a Okinawa Cooler, the Hanami Sour, and a special Sakura Martini.
